PADI IDC

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is a complete package that takes the already certified PADI Divemaster to another level. During this course the PADI system of diver education is introduced by our dedicated Go PRO staff team.

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) provides you with the tools needed during your teaching career to train scuba divers in the classroom, confined water and open water and we will teach and develop your skills in order to use these tools.

Not yet a PADI Divemaster? It’s no problem; you can join us at any diver level and we will design a program for you that incorporates all required prerequisite courses before the IDC.

Our IDC package comprises of three courses:

  • PADI Assistant Instructor Course (AI)
  • PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)
  • Emergency First Response Instructor Course (EFRI).

If you have any of these qualifications, we can tailor your training accordingly.

When successfully completing all three courses you will be prepared for the PADI Instructor Examination (IE), which is a 2 day standardized, objective evaluation conducted by PADI Instructor Examiners from PADI Asia Pacific.

At Downbelow we conduct the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) 5 times every year directly before the PADI IE. This way our candidates knowledge and skills are fresh and fully prepared for the PADI IE evaluation.

Included within our IDC package are the PADI IE logistics. Whether the PADI IE is held at our own PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre or a nearby location we ensure all candidates will be completely familiar with the location and environment of the PADI IE, we provide transport, tanks, weights and required training equipment.

The eLearning PADI Dive Theory section is encouraged for all candidates to complete prior to the IDC. Although this is not a requirement, candidates will benefit from refreshing their dive theory knowledge from the PADI Divemaster course.

Our PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is conducted over 16 days but we encourage candidates to join us for our 1 month Go PRO PADI Instructor Internship program which is fantastic value for money as it includes UNLIMITED scuba diving so you can log more dives, gain more experience and benefit from our preparation workshops.

Our resident Platinum PADI Course Director Richard Swann and the PADI Staff Instructors of the Go PRO team conduct pre-IDC prep (refreshing dive skills and theory knowledge) which we include FREE OF CHARGE within the 1 month program.

To increase your employability we also offer, for FREE, an employment workshop after the IDC.

Contact us at Downbelow to learn more about our internship options.

Our IDC Package

Our resident Platinum PADI Course Director Richard Swann delivers the course orientation which officially begins the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). The orientation will include a day-to-day schedule so everyone knows what to expect from the program and all components of the course. Candidates will also learn during the orientation on which days the course will be held at Downbelows Head Office Classroom located in KK TIMES Square and which days are on the tropical island of GAYA where our PADI 5 STAR IDC Centre is located. Either way candidates are picked up and dropped off everyday so logistics and getting to and from where you need to be are never a problem.

To begin with, presentations will be conducted by Richard and his Go PRO team covering topics such as teaching PADI Specialty Diver courses and how to market scuba diving.

Our modern classroom facilities located at our head office will be needed for presentations by the IDC candidates too. Knowledge development presentation on topics, such as dive theory, builds on the candidates knowledge base and is essential to teaching a student.

Theory workshops will take place in the classroom, however we encourage candidates to study independently in their own time too.

PADI Platinum Course Director Richard and the Downbelow Go PRO team will help you to develop a clear understanding of The PADI Philosophy of Continuing Education and the full range of PADI programs. We will show you how to take advantage of the teaching materials and tools, including digital products that are available to you as a PADI Instructor.

Teaching is an easy and exhilarating experience once you’ve understood the basic teaching methods and how to fully use the PADI system!

The programs are performance based, feedback and encouragement for your improvement is guaranteed throughout the course to inform you of your progress and level of proficiency.

Team work is the key to your success and it’s likely during your PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) you will meet people that become lifelong friends, not to mention the IDC is also great fun and a rewarding, unforgettable experience.
