Yes, as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, subject-specific presentations are delivered as part of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) requirements.
The purpose of mastering an effective teaching presentation is to assist student divers in understanding the knowledge content, which is to be developed. Particularly for entry-level divers, the world of scuba diving is new and exciting, yet very alien skill.
The role of a dive instructor is to develop the knowledge, which supports skill mastery during in-water practice in the confined water sessions of their course. Open water dive experiences will be much more enjoyable for the student as their confidence is built from the foundation of education their instructor provided!
Each element of the PADI system of education is to ensure diver competency and through PADI professionals the PADI Standards must be followed.
IDC candidates are offered all PADI materials to develop their instructional skills to gain their own confidence in becoming the dive mentor their student will look up to!
