“The best place for interns!”

Posted 13 Dec 2011

joeI returned to Dive Downbelow to complete my Master Scuba Diver Trainer after passing my Instructor Exam nearly a year before (Also with Downbelow) because I felt that they offered the most professional service around (Definitely in Kota Kinabalu – maybe the whole region?!)

The training for my Speciality Instructor ratings exceeded my expectations by having every detail of the courses covered in detail by Richard (Resident Course Director at Downbelow) who imprinted all the finer details involved in teaching specialities along with very helpful real life tips that you wouldn’t find in a PADI manual!
As an added bonus I was lucky enough to become one of the first instructors in the new Project A.W.A.R.E – Shark Conservation distinctive speciality – which at the time was currently being taught only by Downbelow as Richard was the only Course Director that can train new instructors in this speciality.

This, coupled with teaching and assisting a variety of courses to credit towards my MSDT rating lead to a very enjoyable and rewarding time with Downbelow – and an experience I would 100% recommend to anyone looking to take their first steps into professional diving or looking to further their own education by benefitting from Downbelow’s highly experienced staff team.

The dive centre is well located on Gaya Island 10 minutes from Kota Kinabalu. KK is a great city that is cheap for accommodation and food; it provides a fantastic base of operations to the other activities around Sabah.
Being so close to KK it great for interns as you can benefit from all the city life and the diving life aswell!

A massive thank-you to everyone at Downbelow and I hope to see you all again soon! Staff Instructor maybe…..!
